Technical Sales Engineer – Marine HVAC & Deck Machinery

Job Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing business opportunities and delivering technical and commercial solutions primarily in Marine HVAC Systems and Deck Machinery .
The role requires a strong combination of technical engineering knowledge, commercial awareness, and client-facing skills. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, shipyards, contractors, manufacturers, and internal teams to understand project requirements, develop optimized solutions, prepare proposals, and support projects from enquiry through execution.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
• Identify and develop new business opportunities for Marine HVAC and Deck Machinery solutions within Southeast Asia.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with shipyards, vessel owners, offshore contractors, consultants, and equipment manufacturers.
• Develop new accounts and maintain existing customer relationships to generate repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Conduct market research to identify customer requirements, market trends, new technologies, and competitive opportunities.
• Attend client meetings, shipyard discussions, technical meetings, exhibitions, and industry events to develop business opportunities.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to clients and project stakeholders.
Technical Sales & Proposal Engineering
• Understand project specifications, vessel requirements, class requirements, and client technical specifications.
• Develop and propose suitable Marine HVAC systems , including air-conditioning, chilled water, seawater-cooled systems, ventilation, fresh-air systems, AHUs, FCUs, ducting, and associated equipment.
• Develop and propose suitable Marine Deck Machinery , including equipment selection, configuration, capacity, and application requirements.
• Perform preliminary equipment selection, system sizing, capacity checks, and technical evaluations.
• Review technical specifications, drawings, equipment schedules, and tender documents to identify project requirements and potential technical/commercial risks.
• Work closely with manufacturers and factories to develop technically compliant and commercially competitive solutions.
• Optimize proposed solutions by balancing technical performance, reliability, installation requirements, lifecycle considerations, lead time, and project cost .
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, quotations, equipment schedules, technical submissions, and tender documentation.
• Review and clarify technical deviations, exclusions, assumptions, and alternative proposals with clients.
• Support negotiations with clients and suppliers to achieve commercially viable project outcomes.
Factory & Supplier Coordination
• Liaise directly with manufacturers, factories, principals, and suppliers to develop project-specific solutions.
• Obtain and evaluate technical information, drawings, specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules from suppliers.
• Coordinate technical clarifications between clients and manufacturers.
• Review factory proposals and ensure that equipment offered meets project specifications and applicable marine requirements.
• Support factory negotiations on pricing, lead time, warranty, technical scope, and project terms.
Project & Technical Support
• Support projects from initial enquiry and proposal stage through order confirmation, engineering, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with contractors, shipyards, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Attend site, vessel, and shipyard meetings when required.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Identify technical issues during project execution and coordinate with the relevant engineering teams or manufacturers for resolution.
• Support project handover and ensure technical and commercial requirements are properly communicated from sales to project execution teams.
Customer & After-Sales Support
• Provide technical support to customers after equipment delivery and installation.
• Respond to technical enquiries and assist customers in troubleshooting equipment and system issues.
• Develop opportunities for replacement, retrofit, upgrading, and additional equipment.
• Collect customer feedback and communicate relevant information to manufacturers and internal teams for product and service improvement.
Sales Administration & Reporting
• Prepare sales forecasts and monitor opportunities from enquiry through order conversion.
• Maintain accurate customer, quotation, opportunity, and project information in the CRM system.
• Track sales performance against agreed targets.
• Prepare regular sales and project opportunity reports for management review.
Required Competencies & Qualifications
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, marine engineering, HVAC, deck machinery, or a related engineering field.
• Strong technical understanding of Marine HVAC systems and/or Deck Machinery .
• Experience with marine, offshore, shipyard, or oil & gas projects will be an advantage.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, technical datasheets, and project requirements.
• Basic understanding of marine classification requirements and applicable industry standards.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to evaluate technical solutions from both engineering and cost perspectives.…
