Specialist Database Administrator – SQL Server / Cloud & HA-DR

Role Overview We are seeking a Specialist Database Administrator with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, High Availability/Disaster Recovery, performance tuning, cloud database environments, and automation. The role will support large-scale, mission-critical enterprise databases and work closely with Cloud, DevOps, Infrastructure, Application, and Security teams. Key Responsibilities • Administer and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments across production and non-production landscapes. • Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, WSFC/Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, Backup & Recovery, and DR solutions. • Perform advanced database performance tuning and query optimization , including execution plans, indexing, statistics, DMVs/DMFs, blocking, and deadlock analysis. • Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance, and resolve complex production issues through troubleshooting and RCA. • Lead database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and environment provisioning. • Support SQL Server cloud migration and modernization across AWS/Azure, including AWS EC2/RDS and related cloud services. • Automate DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, Bash/Shell, or Ansible . • Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, database deployment automation, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code . • Support database workloads integrated with Docker/Kubernetes/EKS environments where required. • Implement database security, access controls, auditing, patching, and compliance requirements. • Work with application and infrastructure teams to resolve database issues and optimize application/database performance. • Participate in 24x7 production support, incident management, change management, and disaster recovery activities . • Provide technical guidance and act as a Database SME for complex technical issues and continuous improvement initiatives. RequiredSkills • 8+ years of SQL Server Database Administration • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server expertise • Always On Availability Groups / WSFC / Failover Clustering • HA/DR, Backup & Recovery, Replication, Log Shipping • SQL Performance Tuning & Query Optimization • Strong T-SQL, PowerShell, and database automation • Enterprise production support and RCA • Experience with AWS and/or Azure • Exposure to Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes is highly preferred • Strong database security and access management knowledge Preferred Experience • Large-scale enterprise or financial services environments • Managing high-volume / mission-critical SQL Server databases • Cloud database migration and modernization • Database DevOps / automation • 24x7 production environments • ITIL, Incident, Problem, and Change Management
