Junior Trader

About Fenix One Fenix One is a global high-frequency trading firm operating across multiple asset classes and financial exchanges. We run proprietary, latency-critical infrastructure across colocation facilities worldwide, trading futures, equities, ETFs, FX, and cryptocurrencies with internally developed models and state-of-the-art technology. Our Singapore headquarters is home to a high-calibre team of 20–30 people. We are not looking for the finished article. We are looking for someone exceptional in the making — a sharp, hungry, and intellectually curious person who wants to build a career at the intersection of markets, technology, and quantitative thinking. If you are competitive, fast, and thrive when the stakes are real, read on. The Role This is a full trading seat. You will learn to price and trade financial products across live markets using Fenix One’s internally developed models and infrastructure, working directly alongside senior traders and technologists from day one. The learning curve is steep and intentional. You will be given real ownership as soon as you are ready for it — and we will push you to be ready quickly. Key Responsibilities • Execute trades across futures, equities, ETFs, FX, and cryptocurrency markets using Fenix One’s proprietary models and systems. • Monitor live positions, manage intraday risk, and escalate anomalies promptly and clearly. • Develop a working understanding of the markets, instruments, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Fenix One’s trading activity. • Analyse historical and live data to identify patterns, evaluate model performance, and contribute ideas for strategy improvement. • Collaborate with senior traders, quantitative researchers, and technologists to improve trading methods, tools, and workflows. • Maintain discipline and composure in fast-moving, high-stakes market conditions. • Contribute to post-trade analysis, reconciliation, and operational processes as part of a small, high-ownership team. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline: Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance. • Excellent numerical and analytical ability — comfortable reasoning with data, probability, and uncertainty under time pressure. • Practical Python programming experience; confident with Excel for data analysis and modelling. • Competitive instinct and fast decision-making — you play to win, and you know when to cut. • Clear, direct communication in English — written and verbal. • Logical problem-solver who picks up new, complex concepts quickly without handholding. • Pragmatic self-starter: you take initiative, ask good questions, and follow through. • 0–2 years of work experience; fresh graduates are actively encouraged to apply. Financial markets experience is a plus, not a requirement. Highly Desirable • Demonstrated interest in financial markets — personal trading, academic projects, competitions, or independent research. • Participation in quantitative or trading competitions (e.g. IMC Trading, Optiver, Jane Street puzzles, Kaggle). • Exposure to statistics, machine learning, or time-series analysis. • Experience with low-latency systems, algorithmic logic, or exchange market structure, even at a conceptual level. Who You Are You see markets as a puzzle, not just a scoreboard. You want to understand why, not just what. You are competitive without being fragile — you take losses seriously as information, not as verdicts. You are direct, honest, and low-ego. You would rather be corrected than confident and wrong. You are energised by ambiguity and pressure, not paralysed by them. You default to ownership: if something isn’t working, you fix it or flag it — you don’t wait. What We Offer • Competitive graduate compensation with meaningful performance upside as you develop. • Direct mentorship from experienced traders — a genuine apprenticeship model, not a graduate programme. • Real trading responsibility and ownership, accelerated by your performance. • Access to cutting-edge proprietary infrastructure and a team that takes technology seriously. • A lean, high-trust environment with no bureaucracy: your work is visible and your impact is real from day one. • Competitive benefits including health coverage. How to Apply Submit a CV and a short cover note (one page maximum) that answers the following: describe a time you solved a hard quantitative or logical problem — what was the problem, how did you approach it, and what did you learn? Applications without a cover note will not be progressed. Please submit your applications to careers@fenix-one.com
