Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Primary Function: Provide mechanical engineering with responsibility for the design and analysis of mechanical systems, automation, custom test equipment, tooling/jigs, and fixtures of diverse complexity and scope. Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities: • Responsible for the static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, automation, custom test equipment, tooling/jigs, and fixtures. • Develop design documentation required to support manufacturing, assembly, and system performance verification. This includes 2D and 3D CAD files, test documentation, manufacturing and/or assembly instructions, troubleshooting, operating manuals, etc. Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills,& abilities) • 5+ years of experience designing equipment and/or tooling. • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to identify and solve complex system level issues. • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group. • Ability to plan work and accomplish objectives with minimal direction. • Demonstrated capability to design machine plastic and metal parts. • Excellent analytical and empirical problem solving and troubleshooting skills. • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills. • Basic computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, basic file structure understanding, networks, and web navigation. Work Environment Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.
