Senior API Gateway Engineer – Axway / Java

Senior API Gateway Engineer – Axway / Java We are looking for an experienced Senior API Gateway Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, enterprise APIs, Axway API Gateway, and API security . This role will focus on the design, development, deployment, security, and production support of enterprise APIs and integration solutions in a large-scale environment. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise APIs and integration solutions. • Configure and maintain Axway API Gateway , including policies, routing, security controls, and API lifecycle components. • Work extensively with Axway Policy Studio, API Manager, and .FED deployments . • Develop and support Java-based microservices and REST APIs . • Implement API authentication, authorization, encryption, and security controls. • Configure and manage OAuth 2.0 flows including:Client CredentialsAuthorization CodeJWT BearerRefresh Token • Implement and support JWT token generation, validation, claims handling, signing, and encryption . • Manage PGP encryption/decryption, digital signatures, key management, and certificate handling . • Support SSL/TLS, mTLS, PKI, OpenID Connect, and API threat protection . • Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for API and gateway-related issues. • Support API deployments, change activities, governance, and lifecycle management. • Work closely with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, architecture, and DevOps teams. • Support performance tuning, monitoring, and continuous improvement of API platforms. Requirements • 6+ years of experience in Java development and API technologies . • Strong hands-on experience with: Axway API GatewayPolicy StudioAPI Manager.FED deployments • Strong proficiency in: JavaMicroservicesREST APIsMavenGit / BitbucketCI/CD pipelines • Strong experience across the full API lifecycle including design, development, deployment, production support, and troubleshooting . • Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0 and enterprise API security. • Strong knowledge of JWT, PGP, SSL/TLS, mTLS, PKI, OAuth, OpenID Connect . • Experience implementing security policies in Axway API Gateway . • Good understanding of OWASP API Security Top 10 and secure API design principles. • Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis skills.
