About the Company
Our client is a listed financial institution. Its risk function is known for disciplined governance, close engagement with regulators and a collaborative culture.
The Role
Lico Resources is partnering with our client to find a Risk Control specialist (AVP or VP) for its Risk Management team. This is a hands-on, second-line role covering counterparty credit oversight, collateral and margin adequacy, and default and crisis readiness. You will track how economic shifts, market shocks and product-level factors could affect the firm's counterparties and its own exposure, and act early to contain those risks.
What You Will Do
Counterparty Oversight
• Keep a close watch on the financial health and credit standing of the firm's institutional counterparties.
• Review exposure levels, liquidity and funding positions, and concentration risk on a continuous basis.
• Spot early signs of stress and raise them to the right stakeholders without delay.
• Hold regular discussions with counterparties to understand shifts in their business model and balance sheet.
• Propose and put in place protective measures when the risk picture changes.
Markets and Collateral
• Follow global market developments, judge what they mean for the firm's risk position and recommend responses.
• Test whether collateral and margin levels remain sufficient during volatile periods.
• Contribute to periodic margin reviews, scenario and stress analysis, and the tuning of risk limits and controls.
• Trace how a market event could spread to counterparty exposures and to the firm's resilience.
• Write up findings and recommendations for senior leaders and risk committees.
Default and Crisis Readiness
• Help maintain and strengthen the firm's framework for handling a counterparty default.
• Join simulation drills, crisis exercises and recovery planning work.
• Draft and refresh the procedures, playbooks and workflows used in a default scenario.
• Work with internal teams and external parties to run readiness exercises smoothly.
• Capture lessons learnt after each exercise and drive improvements.
Policy and Engagement
• Contribute to drafting and periodic review of risk policies and procedures.
• Prepare committee papers, assessments and presentations for senior management and regulators.
• Represent the team in industry forums on risk management and market resilience.
• Partner with product, operations, legal, compliance and technology colleagues on risk projects.
What We Are Looking For
• A degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, risk management, business analytics or a similar field.
• 7 or more years of work experience, including at least 3 years in a relevant risk area such as clearing or counterparty risk, securities or derivatives brokerage, risk management at a fund or asset manager, or derivatives trading support and risk.
• A good grasp of how macro and market events translate into counterparty and firm-level risk.
• Strong writing and presentation skills, with the confidence to brief senior management and committees.
