Professional Engineer (Electrical) – Lightning Protection Job Description / Scope We are seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (Electrical) [PE (Elect)] to provide professional engineering consultancy and technical support for Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) for a major temporary outdoor event. Key Responsibilities • Provide professional advice on lightning protection strategy, design philosophy and engineering solutions. • Conduct lightning protection and risk assessments in accordance with SS 555:2018 – Code of Practice for Lightning Protection and recognised engineering methodologies, including the Rolling Sphere Method where applicable. 05. Section 4 - Requirement Spe… • Develop detailed LPS designs, calculations, technical specifications, drawings and tender documentation. • Design/recommend appropriate solutions including lightning protection masts, catenary wire systems, grounding, bonding and earthing arrangements. • Review contractors' shop drawings, material submissions, installation methods, method statements and testing/commissioning procedures. • Conduct periodic site inspections during construction, rehearsal and event phases. • Witness and verify testing and commissioning and certify that completed LPS works comply with approved designs, applicable standards and contractual requirements. 05. Section 4 - Requirement Spe… • Support relevant authority submissions, technical clarifications and design revisions where required. • Provide technical recommendations for lightning-risk management and contingency planning during construction, rehearsals and event operations. • Prepare design reports, risk assessments, inspection records, certification documents and final close-out documentation. 05. Mandatory Requirements The candidate must be a suitably qualified Professional Engineer (Electrical) . Importantly, the tender specifically requires the PE(Elect) to have at least one previous experience providing lightning protection design for major event infrastructure , such as a national event, motorsport event (e.g. Formula 1), large-scale parade (e.g. Chingay), or another large-scale temporary event involving multiple structures/venues.
