StatisticsRisk Assessment
1. Assess possible safety hazards and advise management on the measures to be taken in the interest of safety and health of personnel employed therein.
2. Develop the WSH Management System, WSH rules and regulations and SafeWork Practices for the Project, distribution of the WSH Management System manual and the monitoring of its implementation and compliance.
3. Act as secretary to the Safety Committee established at site and assist the chairman in directing the functions of the Safety Committee
4. Lead the Monthly Safety Committee patrol. Complete the report of the patrol and submit it to the Project Manager
5. Preside over Safety Committee Meeting upon delegate from the Project Manager
6. Inspect the site personally or direct his WSH Co-Ordinator to inspect the site on his behalf to determine whether there is any machinery, plant, equipment, appliances or any type of manual labour being used in the site which is of such nature that it is liable to cause risk or bodily injury to any person working or employed on the site
7. Discuss the findings of the inspection with the supervisor who is in charge of the machinery, plant, equipment, appliances or manual labour and report the findings to the management.
8. Assist the supervisor in investigating any accident which took place within the site arising from the use of machinery, plant, equipment, appliances or manual labour and check the supervisors report thereof and the action taken to remove the cause(s) of the accident.
9. Investigate every fatal accident and/or dangerous occurrence within the site and any industrial disease contracted in the site.
10. Compile and maintain safety statistics and present the WSH Performance Report to the management.
11. Monitor safety patrols conducted by the Engineers/Supervisors/Foreman and ensure that they are carried out responsibly and correctly. Summarise the WSH reports into an overall safety report and submit to the management.
12. Organise training courses, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the employees to establish a healthy working environment.
13. Review Safe work procedure and risk assessments and suggest improvements or any safety requirement which needs to be incorporated. Ensure that the respective supervisor applies the approved Safe work procedure and safety control stipulated in the risk assessments during the execution of the work
14. Manage and control situations arising during an emergency. Continuously review the emergency procedure and update accordingly
15. Monitor the implementation of the Security Procedures
16. Monitor the records and compliance of the Maintenance Regime for Construction Equipment and Machinery. Advise the supervisor on any equipment or machinery which is due for inspection.
17. Monitor the movement and use of hazardous substances and confirm that the register of hazard substances is updated. Maintain the Safety Data Sheets and make available to any personnel handling the substances.
18. Liaise with statutory bodies with regard to safety matters.
19. Assess the WSH performance rating of all Foremen, Engineers and Sub-contractors understand that the submission of the certificate/qualifications is subjected to verification and approval by management.
