Java Developer

About the Role We are looking for a Java Backend Engineer to join our Web Applications team in Penang. The role will focus on developing scalable web applications, microservices, and APIs using Java and Spring Boot. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Java/Spring Boot web applications, microservices, and APIs. • Work with PostgreSQL and contribute to application and database development. • Collaborate with technical and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle. • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment. • Work with Git, Jira, Linux, and CI/CD workflows. Requirements • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. • Must Have • At least 4 – 5 relevant years of experience. • Java: Proficiency in Java 8+ and Spring Boot framework. • Architecture: Hands-on experience with Microservices and API development. • Database: Good knowledge of PostgreSQL. • Tools: Version control using Git. • Platforms: Work tracking and ticketing experience with Jira. • OS: Linux (basic scripting). • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and development workflows. Nice to Have • Prior experience or knowledge in B2C applications. • Some frontend experience. Communication • Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
