The Opportunity
As the Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Manager, APAC , you will identify, shape and secure strategic partnerships and alliances across APAC that unlock new commercial opportunities for Abbott's Infectious Disease portfolio, with industry partners where there is clear synergy between portfolios, and directly with key customers. You will act as the region's ecosystem scout and deal-maker, continuously scanning the healthcare ecosystem for partnership openings, developing creative collaboration models, and bringing the right internal and external stakeholders and decision-makers together to forge a path forward. This role operates in a key-account-management style and requires a strong sales background, with success measured on the partnership pipeline built, agreements secured and the commercial value they enable.
What You’ll Do
• Identify, evaluate and prioritise partnership and alliance opportunities with industry players (Pharma, MedTech, IVD) where there is clear synergy with Abbott's portfolio.
• Build direct strategic partnerships with key customers, moving beyond transactional supply to longer-term collaboration.
• Develop and manage a structured partnership framework including opportunity screening criteria, business-case and value-hypothesis development, stakeholder mapping, deal structuring and post-signing governance.
• Partner with country teams to successfully activate and scale collaborations in-market, ensuring alignment with commercial priorities and growth objectives.
• Lead partnership and alliance discussions end-to-end, from first conversation through term sheet to signed agreement, working closely with cluster GMs, country commercial teams, Legal, Finance and Regulatory.
• Monitor partnership performance, optimize the partner ecosystem, and continuously enhance the value and impact delivered through strategic collaboration.
• Own and report a regional partnership pipeline with clear value hypotheses, milestones and owners.
• Develop partnership-led growth models to expand reach into new segments, channels, or geographies.
• Identify opportunities for innovative go-to-market approaches leveraging external partners.
• Support strategic initiatives such as local sourcing, market access, and portfolio expansion.
• Contribute a portfolio-level perspective across customer segments, helping shape where the portfolio plays, how it is positioned by segment, and the pricing and value-proposition logic that underpins partnership and growth initiatives.
• Drive cross-market initiatives to scale successful partnership models across APAC.
• Continuously scan the APAC healthcare ecosystem to spot partnership openings early and develop creative collaboration models.
• Analyse market trends, customer needs, competitor moves and partner activity to refine partnership strategy and target-partner prioritisation.
• Identify emerging opportunities for collaboration based on market evolution, policy shifts, or ecosystem changes.
• Provide strategic recommendations to regional leadership on growth opportunities enabled through partnerships and alliances.
• Work closely with commercial teams, Marketing, Market Access, Commercial Excellence, Legal, Regulatory/Quality, Finance and PMO to ensure partnerships are properly structured, approved and executed.
• Drive strong stakeholder engagement across markets, building trust and influence without direct authority.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive commercial experience within healthcare, diagnostics, medical devices, pharma or related life sciences industries, of which a substantial part in front-line sales and/or key account management.
• Demonstrated success in originating and closing strategic partnerships, alliances or key-account deals, ideally within healthcare or life sciences.
• Experience working across APAC markets and managing multi-country initiatives.
• Proven track record of identifying, developing and executing growth initiatives.
• Experience structuring and negotiating commercial agreements together with Legal and Finance.
• An established network across the APAC healthcare ecosystem (industry, providers, channel) is a strong advantage.
• Exposure to portfolio or segment strategy and pricing/value-based commercial models is an advantage.
• Strategic and commercially astute, with a strong growth orientation and sound judgement on which opportunities are worth pursuing.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capabilities across complex setups.
• Proven experience in partnership development, alliance management, and negotiation.
• Strong communication, presentation and storytelling skills, with ability to influence diverse audiences.
• Analytical mindset with ability to translate insights into action.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term results delivery.
• Working understanding of portfolio and pricing strategy across customer segments, and how they interact with partnership and channel…
