Java Developer (Mid-Senior / Senior) – Wealth Management

We are looking for a hands-on Java Developer to join a banking and wealth management technology team. The role involves developing and supporting both legacy monolithic applications and modern microservices , with a strong focus on production stability, performance, and reliability. The ideal candidate is production-oriented, independent, and accountable , with the ability to own development, deployment, and production support. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain applications using Java 17+ , Spring and Spring Boot • Build and enhance scalable backend services across monolithic and microservices architectures • Work with Maven and Gradle build tools • Design and optimise database solutions using MariaDB / MySQL • Perform JVM and SQL performance tuning • Deploy and support applications through: VM-based deployments using Jenkins; containerised deployments using Docker and OpenShift (OCP) • Monitor application logs, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve production incidents • Work with workflow engines such as Camunda / Activity / Activiti • Collaborate with cross-country teams in an Agile / Scrum environment • Take ownership of assigned applications and provide technical guidance when required • Evaluate and use open-source frameworks with consideration for security, compliance and operational risks • Ensure data integrity, security and reliability in financial transaction systems Required Skills & Experience • Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot • Experience with both monolithic and microservices architectures • Proficiency in Maven and/or Gradle • Experience with MariaDB and/or MySQL • Experience with Jenkins, Docker, and OpenShift (OCP) • Strong production support and incident management experience • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills • Strong English communication skills Ideal Candidate • Independent, proactive, and accountable • Comfortable taking ownership of technical issues and production incidents • Calm and effective under pressure • Strong problem-solving mindset with a practical, hands-on approach • Able to provide technical guidance and support to team members when required • Comfortable working with distributed and cross-country teams Nice to Have • React 17+ or full-stack development experience • Banking, wealth management, or fintech experience • Knowledge of investment products such as: Bonds, Unit Trusts (UT) / Mutual Funds • Understanding of financial transaction lifecycles • Awareness of relevant financial industry regulations and compliance requirements
