Job Summary
The Senior IT Engineer will lead the management and support of the School’s IT applications, systems, and onsite technology services, collaborating with academic and administrative teams and external vendors to ensure secure, reliable, and effective IT operations.
Responsibilities
• Manage and support key school applications including Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, assessment platforms, communication portals, HR and Finance systems, admissions systems, and Microsoft 365/Google Workspace to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Administer user accounts, roles, permissions, and access rights to maintain secure and appropriate system access.
• Provide timely technical support by diagnosing and resolving application, hardware, and user-related issues to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with external IT vendors to oversee network, Wi-Fi, servers, internet connectivity, cybersecurity, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Support system integrations, data imports/exports, APIs, and automated workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date IT asset, system, and application documentation for transparency and compliance.
• Assist teachers and staff in effectively utilizing technology for teaching, learning, and administrative tasks.
• Introduce and support educational technologies, including AI and emerging digital tools, to foster innovation in the school environment.
• Implement cybersecurity measures, data protection protocols, backup, recovery, and business continuity plans to safeguard school data and systems.
• Coordinate software upgrades, patches, system changes, and technology projects to ensure systems remain current and secure.
• Manage relationships with application vendors, consultants, and technology service providers to optimize service delivery.
• Contribute to the School’s IT strategy, digital roadmap, budgeting, procurement, and continuous technology improvements.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant IT experience including application support, systems administration, and IT infrastructure coordination.
• Experience supporting business applications, cloud platforms, and education technology systems.
• Experience collaborating with external IT vendors, managed service providers, or technology service providers.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, Windows and Mac environments, cloud services, and networking concepts.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity, user access management, and data protection principles.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in IT contexts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
• Effective organizational skills to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Proactive and solution-focused mindset with strong ownership of issues from identification through resolution.
• Experience with education technology and school management systems such as Engage and iSAMS is advantageous.
• Professional certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, or Cisco are a plus.
