Responsibilities
• Assess marine insurance applications by reviewing risk details relating to vessels, cargo, trade routes, operations, and coverage requirements.
• Prepare quotations, policy terms, endorsements, renewals, and other underwriting documentation in accordance with internal guidelines.
• Analyze supporting documents, claims histories, survey reports, and other relevant information to identify potential risk exposures.
• Liaise with brokers, clients, and business partners to obtain additional information and clarify underwriting requirements.
• Support senior underwriters in evaluating more complex marine risks and structuring appropriate insurance solutions.
• Monitor existing policies and renewal accounts to ensure timely review, follow-up, and continuation of coverage.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records, policy data, correspondence, and documentation within internal systems.
• Track portfolio performance, claims experience, and market developments to support underwriting decisions and risk selection.
• Coordinate with claims, operations, finance, and other internal teams on policy administration and account-related matters.
• Build knowledge of marine insurance products, underwriting practices, regulatory requirements, shipping activities, and emerging maritime risks.
Requirements
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, Maritime Studies, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience in insurance, underwriting, shipping, logistics, maritime services, or a related field are welcome.
• Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret risk information and supporting documentation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a keen interest in developing a career in marine insurance underwriting.
