PLUMBING & SANITARY (FITTER)

Roles & Responsibilities: - Installation, Execution & Supervision • Lead and carry out installation of water supply systems (cold & hot water), drainage systems, sewerage systems, and vent piping. • Supervise installation of sanitary fixtures such as WC, wash basins, sinks, urinals, bathtubs, floor traps, grease traps, inspection chambers, and manholes. • Ensure correct pipe routing, gradient/slope (especially for drainage), alignment, and support spacing in accordance with approved drawings. • Oversee pipe jointing works including PVC solvent cementing, GI threading, MS welding, HDPE butt fusion/electrofusion. • Ensure proper installation of valves, pumps (if applicable), water tanks, and accessories. Drawing Interpretation & Work Planning • Read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, isometric drawings, and method statements. • Plan daily and weekly work activities based on project schedule and site priorities. • Identify drawing discrepancies, clashes, or impractical details and coordinate with engineers for resolution. • Provide input for constructability and method improvement based on site conditions. Team Leadership & Workforce Management • Supervise and guide a team of plumbers, pipe fitters, and general workers on-site. • Allocate tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure efficient use of manpower. • Train workers on proper installation techniques and safety practices. • Enforce discipline, workmanship standards, and adherence to project procedures. Testing, Inspection & Commissioning • Conduct and supervise pressure testing (hydrostatic), leakage testing, and flow testing for all piping systems. • Ensure proper flushing, cleaning, and disinfection of water systems before handover. • Coordinate and attend inspections with consultants, and authorities. • Ensure all works are approved through Inspection Requests before closing activities. • Support system commissioning and final handover processes. Progress Monitoring & Reporting • Monitor daily site progress and ensure works are completed according to schedule. • Report delays, constraints, and risks to site project manager or engineers. • Prepare daily site reports including manpower, completed works, and material usage. • Assist in tracking productivity and ensuring targets are achieved. Material & Equipment Management • Estimate and request materials based on drawings and site requirements. • Verify incoming materials against specifications and approved submittals. • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials (pipes, fittings, fixtures) to avoid damage. • Monitor usage and control wastage of materials and consumables. • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and safely used. Coordination with Other Trades • Coordinate closely with civil, architectural, electrical, and fire protection teams. • Ensure proper sequencing of works to avoid clashes and rework. • Participate in coordination meetings and resolve site interface issues. • Ensure embedded items (e.g., sleeves, openings) are properly installed before concreting. Documentation & Handover • Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and O&M manuals. • Record all testing results, inspection approvals, and site changes. • Support final inspection and project handover to client/consultant. • Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with project requirements. Safety Management • Enforce strict adherence to site safety regulations and safe work procedures. • Ensure all workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and risk assessments. • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective/preventive actions. Other Requirements from Client: • Must possess at least a Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years or more working experience in the related field; OR • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 5 years or more working experience in the related field.
