A Day in Your Life at MKS
As a Rapid Response Team Coordinator , you will lead daily shortage mitigation activities and ensure the organization has clear visibility, ownership, and action plans for critical supply constraints. You will manage shortage priorities, coordinate escalation paths, support open market and broker sourcing activities, and help drive disciplined execution through tools such as Smartsheet, RAIL, shortage trackers, and KPI reporting.
You will work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where speed, accuracy, communication, and accountability are critical. This role requires a strong sense of ownership, the ability to work across multiple business units and regions, and the discipline to keep suppliers and internal stakeholders aligned on clear recovery actions.
You Will Make an Impact By:
• Coordinating critical electronic component shortage mitigation activities across Contract Manufacturers, distributors, manufacturers, brokers, procurement, planning, engineering, quality, and business unit stakeholders.
• Driving fast and transparent communication between internal customers and suppliers to support timely business decisions and minimize production or revenue impact.
• Managing and maintaining shortage mitigation action plans, including root cause, supply impact, mitigation plan, owner, due dates, recovery status, and escalation actions.
• Supporting daily open market component searches, distributor checks, broker RFQs, spot buy activities, and alternate source identification.
• Engaging with engineering and quality teams to prioritize alternate component approvals, PCN reviews, TDN actions, EOL mitigation, and dual-source opportunities.
• Supporting manufacturer and distributor escalations to improve delivery prioritization and secure recovery commitments.
• Driving Contract Manufacturer accountability through structured daily or weekly shortage reviews, clear deliverables, reaction-time expectations, and follow-up discipline.
• Maintaining accurate shortage data in Smartsheet, RAIL, and other approved tracking tools to ensure reliable reporting and decision-making.
• Preparing weekly updates, KPI summaries, and executive-level visibility on critical shortages, aging items, cost impact, closure status, and supplier recovery actions.
• Supporting cost control by ensuring broker buy activity follows approved processes, UPPV tracking, broker evaluation, and appropriate approval flows.
• Driving continuous improvement in shortage management processes, escalation discipline, communication flow, documentation traceability, and supplier performance management.
• Supporting shortage avoidance activities such as stock projection reviews, CTB analysis, expanded shortage visibility windows, EOL process support, and proactive dual-source proposals.
Skills You Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, materials management, supplier management, electronics sourcing, or shortage mitigation.
• Experience working with Contract Manufacturers, distributors, manufacturers, brokers, or electronic component suppliers.
• Strong understanding of shortage management, open market sourcing, RFQ processes, supplier escalation, alternate sourcing, and recovery planning.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large data sets, identify priorities, and translate shortage data into clear action plans.
• Experience using tools such as Excel, Smartsheet, ERP systems, Agile, Oracle, SAP, RAIL, or similar shortage tracking and reporting tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions, regions, cultures, and levels of the organization.
• Ability to work with urgency, structure, and discipline in a fast-changing environment with multiple priorities.
• Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on commitments.
• Ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders without direct authority.
• Comfortable preparing status updates, KPI summaries, and executive-level shortage reports.
• APICS, CPIM, Six Sigma, supply chain, procurement, or project management certification is preferred.
Travel Requirements
• Up to 20% travel may be required to support supplier reviews, Contract Manufacturer engagement, business reviews, and cross-functional alignment meetings.
