Full-Stack Engineer (L2)

MerchantSpring is a SaaS analytics and reporting platform that helps agencies, investors, brands, and vendors track and optimize performance across more than 120 e-commerce and marketplace channels, including Amazon, Walmart, and Shopify. Working at the intersection of software, data, and commerce, the team builds tools that help customers make sense of complex performance signals and act on them with confidence. We're seeking a Full-Stack Engineer who enjoys hands-on development across the stack — building responsive React interfaces, scalable Node.js/TypeScript services, and the data layer that powers reporting across 120+ marketplaces. In this role, you'll ship features end-to-end, work with large volumes of real marketplace data, and help keep the platform fast, reliable, and easy to build on. You'll join one of our focused squads — AI, ETL, or API — working alongside product, QA, and fellow engineers in a modern, cloud-native, AI-native environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who cares about clean, maintainable code, enjoys solving real-world data and scale challenges, and wants to grow their craft on a platform that thousands of sellers and agencies rely on every day. • Develop and maintain full-stack features across a React frontend and Node.js/TypeScript backend. • Design and build scalable APIs and services, including work in our GraphQL data layer. • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in TypeScript (our codebase is heavily TypeScript). • Work across the data layer — PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB and MongoDB — to model, query, and optimise platform data. • Integrate with third-party marketplace APIs (Amazon SP API, Data Kiosk, Walmart, and 120+ channels) to power reporting and analytics. • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot services on AWS, using CloudWatch to diagnose issues. • Collaborate with product, QA, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality features and drive continuous improvement. • Keep raising the bar on tooling, practices, and code quality as we scale. Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • 3–6 years building full-stack or backend applications in production. • Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript. • Solid experience building single-page applications with React. • Proficient in SQL with hands-on PostgreSQL experience; comfortable with MongoDB (or another database system). • Comfortable building and consuming REST APIs. • Experience deploying to and troubleshooting on AWS, including reading CloudWatch logs. • Strong problem-solving skills and a habit of writing clean, testable, maintainable code. • Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to collaborate across product, QA, and engineering. • Ability to leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to boost productivity across development and debugging. Nice to Have • Experience with TimescaleDB or other time-series data. • Experience with GraphQL in a production data layer. • Working knowledge of Python (used alongside TypeScript for parts of our stack). • Familiarity with e-commerce or marketplace platforms (e.g., Amazon, Shopify, WooCommerce) and concepts such as orders, products, and categories. • Experience building connectors or integrating third-party APIs (e.g., Amazon SP API, Data Kiosk). • Experience with analytics, reporting, or other data-heavy B2B SaaS products. • Familiarity with Cloudflare (CDN and edge caching). • Experience with MCP servers or building AI-powered developer tooling. • Power user of AI tools like Claude, Cursor, or similar to accelerate development. Why join MerchantSpring? • Hard problems at scale: You'll work with billions of rows of live data across 120+ marketplaces — the performance, modelling and cost challenges most engineers only read about. Your work directly shapes how fast and how reliably the platform runs. • An AI-native stack: Heavily TypeScript, React, GraphQL and AWS — and we build with AI every day (Cursor + Claude, our own MCP server), not as a buzzword. You'll work at the front edge of how software actually gets built. • Work that ships: Join a focused squad (AI, ETL, or API) small enough that what you build matters, and own features end-to-end with a visible hand in how we do things. • Stability with autonomy: Be part of a profitable, self-funded business scaling on its own terms — the freedom and pace of a startup, without the runway anxiety. • Grow fast, learn from the best : A global team across KL and Melbourne that moves quickly. You'll level up on large-scale systems through real ownership and mentorship from people who've built at scale. • Face time that counts: When our Melbourne team — including the founders — are in KL, you'll get direct, in-person collaboration, and may have the opportunity to travel on occasion.
