Occupational Therapist [WCAN]

Clinical Responsibilities • Provide appropriate and effective occupational therapy assessment, intervention and treatment to residents in the nursing home. • Participate in multidisciplinary patient review meetings and contribute relevant occupational therapy input to residents’ care plans. • Supervise and provide guidance to Therapy Assistants (TAs) and volunteers involved in occupational therapy-related activities. • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with members of the rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care teams. Education & Training • Keep up to date with developments, evidence-based practices and advances in occupational therapy, and contribute to the continuous development of the department. • Support and participate in training and competency development for therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and caregivers. • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to occupational therapy students and Therapy Assistant students during their clinical placements. • Contribute to in-service education and knowledge-sharing for nursing staff on topics related to occupational therapy and rehabilitation. • Participate in relevant clinical, service and research projects undertaken by the organisation or department. Administrative Responsibilities • Provide coverage and support for occupational therapy services and related duties within the Allied Health Team, where required. • Prepare and submit departmental workload statistics and monthly incident reports to the Head of Allied Health and the designated Senior Therapist. • Provide appropriate feedback and input on the performance and development of Therapy Assistants and Therapy Associates, where required. Other Responsibilities • Participate in departmental projects, interdepartmental committees and quality improvement initiatives. • Identify service gaps or operational issues and contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate improvements. • Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Therapist and Head of Allied Health.
