Automotive Technician – Heavy Vehicles [SL]

Technical Responsibilities • Perform inspection, testing, diagnosis and troubleshooting of heavy vehicles, including lorries, trucks and tankers. • Carry out preventive maintenance, servicing and repair activities in accordance with approved maintenance schedules. • Diagnose mechanical or vehicle-related issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions. • Verify that repair and maintenance work complies with applicable regulatory codes, technical specifications, safety requirements and company procedures. • Conduct post-repair checks and testing to ensure vehicles are suitable for operation. • Maintain accurate maintenance-related records where required. Safety & Workplace Standards • Maintain a high standard of workplace safety, cleanliness and housekeeping. • Follow established workshop safety procedures and applicable operational requirements. • Report safety concerns, equipment issues and vehicle defects promptly. • Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices and workshop operations. Requirements • Valid Class 3 driving licence. • Forklift licence/certification would be an advantage, where applicable to the job. • Basic proficiency in English sufficient to understand technical instructions and workplace documentation. • 1–2 years of relevant experience in automotive servicing, heavy vehicle maintenance or repair. • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues. • Demonstrated ability to diagnose issues, solve technical problems and recommend practical improvements. • Willingness to undertake ongoing learning relevant to vehicle maintenance and repair. • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and comply with required safety and quality standards. • Willingness to work outdoors and at operational sites as required.
