Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's training and workforce development strategy. This role ensures employees possess the competencies, skills, and knowledge required to meet operational, quality, safety, and business objectives. The Training Manager leads training programs, competency frameworks, certification processes, and continuous learning initiatives while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and HR to enhance workforce capability and organizational performance. Need to support new product introductions, process transfers, and technology implementation through effective training plans as well as collaboration with department managers to address performance and competency gaps. Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management regarding workforce capability status.
Training and Development
• Establish and maintain training policies, procedures, and governance standards
• Develop and track training KPIs and effectiveness measurements
• Ensure compliance with internal training requirements, quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations
• Drive continuous improvement of training systems, methodologies, and learning effectiveness
• Monitor trainer effectiveness through performance metrics, certification results, and operational outcomes
• Ensure accurate maintenance of training records, certifications, and competency documentation
• Monitor industry trends and integrate best practices into training strategies
• Monitor training completion rates and compliance status across departments
• Lead corrective actions when training-related issues affect quality, productivity, safety, or customer satisfaction
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and employee development
• Drive digital learning initiatives, e-learning platforms, and learning automation where applicable
• Manage training budgets, facilities, materials, and learning resources effectively
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in Engineering, IT, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Communications or related fields (master’s or postgraduate certification preferred)
• Professional certifications in Learning & Development, Training Management, Lean Six Sigma, Operation or Project Management are added advantage
• Minimum 7-10 years of working experience in Training, Learning & Development, Manufacturing Operations, or Workforce Capability Development
• Proven track record in competency management, workforce development, and training program implementation
• Experience with LMS platforms and e-learning technologies Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Preferably with direct involvement in people’s development (manufacturing specialist training and certification) or in similar setting
• Experience working on lean manufacturing and quality improvement projects.
Skills
• Ensure critical skill readiness to support production expansion, automation, and new product introductions
• Drive achievement of trainer-to-employee ratio targets and competency development milestones
• Conduct gap analyses to identify skill deficiencies and recommend targeted learning interventions
• Able to benchmark and trend analysis on industry best practices in corporate training and development
• Able to lead manufacturing training activities/labor competition independently.
• Able to collaborate, negotiate and influence other functions (Production, Engineering, IT, HR, Finance, etc.) for training materials, training systems, trainer and manufacturing specialists’ certification / recertification process improvements.
• Analytical thinker and possess a can-do spirit
• Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies to enhance training effectiveness
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills.
