The Role
As a Test Engineer - Maintenance , you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and improving test equipment capability to support manufacturing operations. You will ensure test equipment and hardware operate at optimal levels, minimize equipment downtime, and maintain tester functionality and software revisions.
You will work closely with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Software and Debug Engineering teams to troubleshoot test equipment, qualify new test solutions, improve tester reliability, and drive continuous improvement in test performance and efficiency.
What you will be doing...
• Establish and maintain test equipment capability, functionality, and software revisions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of test equipment and hardware to minimize downtime.
• Support the transfer, setup, and qualification of test equipment for new products.
• Ensure test hardware and equipment operate at optimal levels and meet required product specifications.
• Evaluate test equipment and hardware and establish appropriate equipment control and verification specifications.
• Troubleshoot tester and hardware issues and develop systematic debugging guides.
• Conduct Gage Repeatability & Reliability studies and correlation studies, and implement improvement actions.
• Monitor tester performance using Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Drive test time reduction, process simplification, automation, and tester reliability improvements.
• Reduce tester-related over-rejection and improve overall tester performance.
• Improve test setup ergonomics and operating efficiency through elimination, simplification, integration, and automation.
• Collaborate with Software and Debug Engineers to develop and customize test solutions for critical test parameters.
• Work with Product Engineers to enhance test coverage and testability.
• Manage test equipment spare parts effectively to support equipment availability.
• Provide hands-on technical support and training to manufacturing support teams on testers and board repairs.
• Ensure compliance with Safety, ESD, Cleanroom, Housekeeping, ISO requirements, company rules, and applicable regulations.
• Apply Risk-Based Thinking and Continuous Improvement in the planning and execution of tasks.
• Take appropriate action, including stopping a tester, when a quality or safety issue is identified.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in equipment maintenance, testing, or testing methodologies.
• Candidates without directly relevant experience may also be considered based on the nature of the position and available technical training or support.
• Strong interest and knowledge in computer hardware engineering and test equipment.
• Experience in configuring and troubleshooting desktop software, hardware, and related components.
• Experience or knowledge of equipment Total Control Methodology.
• Good computer literacy with the ability to analyze, communicate, and report technical information and data.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a hands-on technical mindset.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
• Knowledge or exposure to SPC, Gage R&R, correlation studies, preventive maintenance, and equipment control would be an added advantage.
