Position Summary
Coherent Malaysia is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Security Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of physical security, asset protection, crisis management, investigations, and security operations across our manufacturing and business facilities in Malaysia.
This role will be based either in Ipoh or Penang and will be responsible for supporting business operations by ensuring a safe, secure, and compliant working environment. The Security Manager will partner closely with site leadership, Human Resources, Legal, EHS, Facilities, and external agencies to mitigate risks, protect company assets, and strengthen security programs across multiple locations.
The position requires a strong security professional with experience managing security operations within a manufacturing, semiconductor, technology, or multinational corporate environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Security Operations Management
• Develop, implement, and maintain security programs, policies, procedures, and standards across assigned facilities.
• Manage daily security operations including guarding services, access control systems, CCTV monitoring, visitor management, and emergency response.
• Conduct regular security risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
• Ensure security coverage and response capabilities meet business requirements.
Physical Security & Asset Protection
• Protect company employees, visitors, facilities, intellectual property, and assets.
• Lead physical security assessments for existing and new facilities.
• Ensure effective implementation of perimeter security, intrusion detection systems, and access control measures.
• Monitor and improve security technologies and systems.
Investigations & Incident Management
• Lead investigations related to theft, fraud, workplace violence, policy violations, and other security-related incidents.
• Coordinate with HR, Legal, Compliance, and local law enforcement authorities when required.
• Prepare investigation reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Maintain confidential records and evidence management practices.
Crisis Management & Business Continuity
• Support site crisis management teams and emergency response activities.
• Develop and test emergency response plans for security incidents.
• Participate in business continuity planning and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Provide leadership during security-related emergencies.
Vendor & Contract Management
• Manage security service providers and security system vendors.
• Monitor performance through audits, KPIs, and service reviews.
• Ensure contractual obligations and service standards are achieved.
• Manage security-related budgets and expenditures.
Compliance & Governance
• Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Support audits and compliance assessments involving security operations.
• Promote a culture of security awareness across the organization.
• Deliver security training and awareness programs to employees.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Establish strong working relationships with site leadership teams.
• Liaise with government agencies, law enforcement, emergency services, and industry partners.
• Provide regular security updates, risk assessments, and performance reports to management.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Professional security certifications are an advantage.
• Minimum 8-10 years of security experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years in a security leadership or management role.
• Experience within manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics, technology, or multinational organizations preferred.
• Experience conducting investigations and managing security incidents.
• Strong understanding of physical security principles and risk management.
• Knowledge of investigations, crisis management, and business continuity planning.
• Experience managing contract security providers.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams during incidents and emergencies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and security reporting tools.
