Warehouse Assistant Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Warehouse Assistant Manager to support the Logistics Manager in overseeing warehouse operations, transportation, and delivery activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient inventory flow, cost-effective logistics management, high service levels, and compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
The role requires strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across warehouse, logistics, procurement, sales, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations
• Assist in managing daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and dispatch.
• Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Monitor stock accuracy through regular cycle counts and inventory audits.
• Ensure compliance with warehouse safety requirements, housekeeping standards, and operational procedures.
• Supervise warehouse personnel and coordinate work schedules to achieve operational targets.
• Monitor warehouse productivity and operational performance.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are processed accurately and on time.
2. Transportation & Delivery
• Assist in coordinating transportation and delivery activities to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
• Monitor delivery schedules and work closely with transport providers and logistics partners.
• Review transportation performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance, and related logistics expenses where applicable.
• Resolve operational issues relating to deliveries, transportation, and warehouse activities.
3. Budget & Cost Management
• Assist in preparing and managing the annual logistics and warehouse operating budget.
• Monitor logistics expenses, including transportation, warehousing, fuel, maintenance, and outsourced logistics services.
• Analyse operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Review vendor quotations and negotiate service rates where appropriate.
• Monitor vendor and contract performance to ensure agreed service levels are maintained.
• Prepare monthly budget reports and variance analyses for management review.
• Ensure efficient utilization of company resources while maintaining service quality and operational standards.
4. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
• Coordinate with procurement, sales, and production teams to ensure smooth inventory flow.
• Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock shortages and excess inventory.
• Support demand planning and inventory replenishment activities.
• Monitor stock movement and identify slow-moving, excess, or obsolete inventory.
• Ensure timely processing and accurate documentation of inbound and outbound shipments.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain and warehouse operations.
5. Team Leadership & Performance
• Supervise, guide, and motivate warehouse personnel to achieve operational objectives.
• Allocate manpower and work assignments according to operational requirements.
• Monitor staff performance, productivity, attendance, and compliance with company procedures.
• Provide training and coaching to warehouse staff where required.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, Business Administration , or a related field.
• Relevant experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
• Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a warehouse or logistics environment will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, transportation, and logistics processes.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics , or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics partners.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel , for reporting, analysis, and cost monitoring.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple operational priorities.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and warehouse best practices.
